2017 - 'ANZAC Day 2017 & Ephesus Tour'
8 - Day itinerary
Friday 21st April
Welcome to Istanbul, where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet your guide and the rest of your group.
Thursday 22nd April
Istanbul Old City
After breakfast, you enjoy a fully guided tour of the only city to span two continents, visiting the Blue Mosque, St Sophia Museum, Topkapi Palace and the Hippodrome. Late in the afternoon we will drive to Harbiye Military Museum for a short visit. Tonight you get to know your travelling companions a little better and enjoy some Turkish cuisine at our welcome dinner.
Friday 23rd April
Depart for the Gallipoli Peninsula early morning and tour the place where the ANZAC legend was born. Highlights will include the original trenches and tunnels, ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, Johnston's Jolly and The Nek. Afterwards we take a short ferry ride across the Dardanelles on the way to our hotel.
Saturday 24th April
Today, we visit the archaeological ruins of Troy. As soon as we are able we will cross the Dardanelles to the Gallipoli Peninsula and head straight to the Dawn Service area to secure the best spot possible.
(Though your hotel is available before and after the ANZAC Day services, most of this night will be spent at the ANZAC Commemorative site.)
Sunday 25th April
ANZAC Day at Gallipoli
At first light we will commemorate our fallen forefathers during the moving ANZAC Day Dawn Service. You will then have the chance to visit the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine before heading to Chunuk Bair Memorial to attend the New Zealand Memorial Service before we return to our hotel for some well-deserved rest. Unfortunately the Australian service at the Lone Pine memorial has been cancelled.
Monday 26th April
Today we head south along the Aegean coast and on the way we enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent acropolis of the ancient city of Pergamum.
Thursday 27th April
Visit Ephesus, one of the world's best-preserved classical sites and the House of Virgin Mary, where it is believed she spent her last days. Turkey produces some of the finest leather goods in the world and many are made here before branding in Italy. We finish the day with a leather goods presentation before a short drive to Izmir for a flight to Istanbul. Transfer to Istanbul hotel on arrival.
Friday 28th April
After breakfast our tour concludes and we say goodbye to our new friends and are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
